Accepting Applications Now

SEDS is excited to introduce our first ever student-led Lightning Talk for SpaceVision 2026. Lightning Talk is an opportunity for students to present abstracts related to a specific theme. Through this event, students get exposed to public speaking, mold their concept into prospective research, and expand their network. Additionally, the event serves as a method to connect industry experts with students who are interested in a student's topic.

Take the chance and showcase your abstract and idea to the larger SEDS community.

Introducing this year's theme:

Exploring longevity in space: addressing life systems and propulsion during space travel.

This year's theme is focused on exploring potential problems astronauts face during space travel, such as radiation, food supply, life systems, bone/muscular degeneration. Additionally, propulsion systems and considering problems related to vehicles that can serve as long-term vessel or fuel supply related issues.

Your lightning talk should introduce large or small concepts to address these problems, these could be potential solutions to further research, larger infrastructure concepts that could be modeled and simulated, or engineering models to solve these problems.

Who Can Apply?

Lightning Talk is open to all SEDS members present at SpaceVision and a part of an active SEDS Chapter. Any attendee already registered for the Research Symposium cannot present the same topic as their research. Attendance at the SV26 Gala is required.
