These awards recognize what chapters accomplish together. Winners are announced at the SpaceVision 2026 Gala.
Innovation Award
Accepting Applications Now
The Innovation Award recognizes ambitious, challenging projects that push a chapter into new territory. These are the efforts on the leading edge of what your chapter — and the wider space community — has attempted before, and they build the skills that set your members apart. Winners are recognized at the SpaceVision 2026 Gala and receive a cash prize.
Criteria
- The project must be new to the chapter in some way, such as launching a liquid rocket or robotics division
- The project must be ongoing or recently completed
- A 500-word summary of the project
- Photos of the project to showcase at the SpaceVision 2026 Gala
Nebula Achievement Award
Accepting Applications Now
The Nebula Achievement Award celebrates brand-new chapters that are already making a major impact. These chapters are growing rapidly, building their members through hands-on experience, and developing the next generation of space leaders. Any chapter under three years old is eligible, and winners are recognized at the SpaceVision 2026 Gala.
Criteria
- Active chapter standing
- The chapter must be less than three years old
- A clear trajectory of growth — through increasing membership, community impact, or notable project success
Chapter of the Year Award
Accepting Applications Now
Chapter of the Year recognizes chapters that embody the ideals of SEDS USA: building student leaders, promoting space exploration in their local community, and widening access to space for underrepresented populations at their university. Winners receive a cash prize and are recognized at the SpaceVision 2026 Gala.
Criteria
- Active chapter standing
- A well-balanced chapter — advancing projects while making an impact on students, university, and community
- Gender and major diversity initiatives are considered
